M2M Wireless Networks – Short Range Solutions

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010 by M2M Expert

In dealing with wireless M2M networks, inevitably one size does not fit all. Typically there will be a mix of technologies necessary to achieve the ultimate goal of M2M Nirvana in any application. The determination of technologies to use will be dependent on many factors. There may even be more than one “right way” to do the project. Inevitably experience and knowledge, blended with a little trial and error will lead to the ultimate solution. In this discussion we will discuss the technologies that will best fit the short range needs of connecting a M2M network. The devices themselves can range from sensors to full blown data-loggers. Identifying the devices involved and understanding the individual requirements of connecting those devices will go a long way to Read the rest of this entry »

M2M Wireless Networks – More than just cellular

Cellular isn’t the only choice when discussing M2M connectivity. In fact, cellular isn’t the best choice in a lot of cases. If you have a number of devices in relatively close proximity to each other (within a few hundred meters), a better decision is to network them together using another technology and then use cellular or even wired broadband or other available network as a back-haul solution for the information acquired from the M2M Read the rest of this entry »
